A professional photographer who loves to drive fast cars especially on ice, appreciates street art, adventures and is an urban junkie
After years of taking pictures of my travels, on slide film, I fell out of photography as sailing took over our spare time - camera's and sea water don't go well together. My passion was re-ignited as I took pictures to feed social media for our other passion; driving fast cars, especially our Porsches.
An upgrade to a Nikon D800, and many patient teachers have helped me to where I am; constantly exploring my 'style' as I think and see visually. Best of all, photography is a great excuse to head to the pits at motorsport events, my favourite place to hang out.
Others who have inspired me include:
James Lipman at www.jameslipman.com. These pictures of Max Hoffman's 356B roadster in Rye, NY are just gorgeous. James is not afraid of colour, and takes great moving shots.
Stefan Bogner of Curves Magazin. Our first and only coffee table books, with the dreams of drives on far away passes and mountains. We have since driven many of them on our 'Great Escapes'. Stephan manages to give an evocative feel, that makes you want to be there.
Amy Shore at www.amyshorephotography.com who has a gorgeous style and an awesome use of negative space. I love her use of use of people to tell the story, and that she is unconstrained by any 'rules'.
Ted Gushue at www.tedgushue.com. Ted has a way of connecting to others through his pictures, he shoots with a Leica and has the most amazing depth and richness of colour, you want to dive right in. I love his Instagram feed.
And a random one, part time racing driver, part time photographer Andre Lotterer, takes great pictures with his Leica. He has a great eye.
I practice what I preach, and am often found lying in the road, trying for that 'great' shot.
